Michelin 3 stars
No 2 restaurant in the world 2014
– Bringing the ordinary to an extraordinary. –
El celler de can roca was worth the 3 or so months wait and the trip to Spain. The attention to detail, precision, and how much thought have been put in to each dish is extraordinary. There’s a touch of cuteness to everything. Love it!
Both the food and the decor were aesthetically pleasing. And the place gave off a warm and homey ambience. Its very light and calming since there’s plenty of windows and the house is surrounded by a beautiful grounds. I love the terrace area at night as well. Its a relaxing place to chill out after dinner.
On another note, some dishes were too salty for my taste and i would have preferred my tomato brioche served warm. But other than that, the food were perfectly cooked. Probably one of the best restaurant for having a pescatarian menu. All the fish were lovely.
The price isnt bad at all. The food price is at the normal three stars rate…cheaper than those in the UK though. They didnt mark up the wine prices that much. I had a glass of white wine for €7. Coffee was €3. In total I spent €211 for the tasting menu, a glass of white wine, still water, and espresso.
I have no comment about the service since it was impeccable. Everyone was very nice and friendly. I was making a fool of myself taking so many pictures with both my phone and camera.
I got lucky and met all three Roca brothers. Super happy! Joan Roca – the head chef – just got back from a trip and came in for the earlier part of the night. Very fortunate to have met him upon entry. He also invited us to view the kitchen straightaway. Thats always a plus! =]]
All in all it was a great experience. I would give this restaurant a 9.5 out of 10.
